Troop 4 - Grapevine, Texas

POPCORN SALES - Joyce Hegeman and Nancy Logue have volunteered to be the troop's popcorn "kernels" in the upcoming Longhorn Council popcorn sales. At the July troop committee meeting, the troop voted to acquire $4,000 in popcorn for the "show and sell" portion of the council's popcorn fund raising project. Each scout will be expected to participate in this project that will include selling door to door. The troop will also participate in in October during the traditional advance order sale, with delivery in November. Scout sign up sheets will be at the Aug. 15 Court of Honor.

RANK ADVANCEMENTS - New Troop 4 scouts advancing to the rank of scout include Jacob B., Ryan B., Kyle C., Gregory G., Jason H., Eric H., Abi K., T.J. N., Michael P., Morgan S., and Cameron T. Troop 4's newest Eagle Scout Michael L. will be honored by the Colleyville City Council at its Aug. 3 7 p.m. meeting. His service project was the repainting of Sparger Park in Colleyville..

MERIT BADGES - Merit badges earned include: SWIMMING -T.J. N. and Jason H.; FISHING - Ryan B., Ryan M., Arden S., T.J. N., Robert L., Jason H., Jacob B., Michael P. and Jeffrey C.; and DOG CARE - Nathan S.

PHILMONT UPDATE - Troop 4's Philmont high adventurers are currently on the beginnings of their two week 64 mile trek that is rated "strenuous" by veteran hikers. The Troop 4 crew of four adults and five scouts left July 5 and return will return July 20. Troop 4 adults include Chris Badger, Dan Berry, Rick Bell, and John Flynn. Scouts on the Philmont trek include: Justin B., Michael B., Daniel B., Ken C., and Kevin M. In addition, Michael L. is in the midst of his "St. George's Trek" at Philmont this summer.

TROOP COOKOUT - There will be a troop cookout, parent's meeting and court of honor at 3 p.m. on Sunday Aug. 15 at CCF, the day before school starts in the G-CISD and HEB school districts.

TROOP 4 BOR's - Troop 4 boards of review are held the first and third Monday meetings. Scouts are required to fill out a BOR request form available from the troop scribe. Also all scouts are requested to bring their scout handbooks to each meeting so rank advancement requirements can be checked off. Scouts should report merit badge completions and rank advancements to Advancement Chairperson Joyce Hegeman in person or by phone to (817) 281-5149.

TROOP FUND REIMBURSEMENTS - All receipts for expenditures of troop funds such as new equipment or patrol food expenses should go directly to troop treasurer Linda Mitchell.
