Everyone,
I haven't sent out an email message in a while, so I thought it was time.
Thanks to all that went on the ZIP Line outing. It was a lot of fun. Ms. Shirley
sent a nice letter saying how well behaved you guys were and how
impressed she was
that you paid attention during ground school. They said they would love to have us
come again. The troop leaders really enjoy hearing that about
you guys and we are proud of you. I am also proud of you for participating. I know
that first step is the hardest, but you guys stepped up and got on the
course. We will work on getting pictures posted to Flickr as soon as we can.
Tonight's meeting is Astronomy, part 2. I wasn't there last week but I am assuming
it went well. If you missed last week, you should be able to get started
tonight. Next week's meeting is a PLC for all you leaders.
On June 1st, National changed the Youth Protection Policy for adults.
You can read about the changes
here. The main points are that new leaders
have to complete Youth Protection before they submit their application and that
everyone must be current or they will not be rechartered. Please take the
time to make sure you are current this summer so we don't have to worry about
it in the fall. Please follow this link to the
My Scouting
page. Here you can create an account if you don't already have one and take the
free course. It hasn't changed much in a while and still only takes about 30
minutes to complete. If you already have an account, you can view your certificate
if you are current. If you are over half way to expiration, please run through it
again. Once done, please send me a PDF of your certificate or a screen shot. There
are other training courses available and I would recommend that the Scoutmaster corps
take a look at some of the others. This new policy applies to all adult leaders
but merit badge counselors also need to be current.THANKS! |
