Everyone,
We have a couple of event changes to tell you about:
- Due to the lack of availability of council camps and facilities, the
Wilderness Survival/Rank Advancement campout has been moved to Memorial
Baptist and will just be for Friday evening and Saturday through dinner. The
cost has also been reduced to $15. We will be meeting over by the education
building. Due to the amount, this event is listed in the Other Activity section
now in the Online Payment part of the website.
- The ZIP line outing has been changed to a day trip. This was decided
by the committee to keep the cost down. The new cost will be $50 and will
include lunch. Those participating will meet at the church at 6:45 AM for
a 7:00 AM departure. Please eat breakfast before you come. The ZIP line part
will be from about 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM. After that we will eat lunch and
head back. We should be back no later than 4:00 PM. Please look at the
roster on the website to see if you had previously signed up and remove
or add yourself as needed.
- The rescheduled District Canoe race is on May 22. Please check the roster
on the calendar and add or remove yourself as needed. The last day to
sign up or remove yourself is May 17.
If you had paid for either of these events before the price change, please
send a note to Mrs. Glen, the
treasurer,
to discuss the reimbursement or applying
the funds to a future event.
The church has asked us if we could have some scouts at their church
service on July 4 to present the colors as in past years. I will be adding
a signup sheet in the next few days. Please check the calendar and sign
up if you are able to attend. 4 - 6 scouts would be great.
Scouts of the Catholic Faith, these religious awards will start soon:
- Ad Altare Dei Award - Boy Scouts who are interested in learning more about
the 7 sacraments and how our faith can be expressed in our daily life. The program
is for Scouts who will be at least 13 by March.
- Pope Pius XII Award - Boy Scouts who are interested in developing a Christian
way of life within our faith community and reflecting upon their baptismal call
and what future calls from God may be received. The program is for Scouts who
will be at least 15 by March.
Mr. Zerbe is the contact for both awards. I have his phone number if anyone needs

Bishop Vann bestows the medals to the successful participants at a special
ceremony in April.
Sea Scout Meeting:
We will have another Sea Scout Ship meeting on Monday, May 17 during the troop
meeting. All scouts that are in high school or about to complete the 8th grade
are welcome. We will have a visitor from the Coast Guard Auxiliary, who also
helps with the Sea Scout Ship in Flower Mound in attendance to answer any
questions about the program. Try to bring a friend and a parent. Please let
me know if you plan on attending.
