Everyone,

Mulch Fundraiser:
We are over half way through our mulch fundraiser and some scouts are reporting more success than others. Please remember that all the profits from the sale will go into the individual scout’s account and will help pay for campouts and any other activity that the troop is involved in. The sample bags have been distributed to the scouts and the forms needed can be downloaded from the website (forms tab).

Points to emphasize during the sale:
  • This is a boy scout fundraiser
  • The price of the mulch includes home delivery and tax
  • The bags handed out are samples only. The real bags are 2 cubic foot bags
  • Mulch is great for your plants as it repels insects, provides a very pleasant aroma and it is the best way to maintain healthy plants.
Due to the fact that there is no troop meeting on March 15th (Spring break), the due date to turn in all the orders has been extended to Sunday, March 21st. We are still planning on product delivery on March 27th so we are working with our distributor to coordinate the logistics. Please contact Mr. Corona at (817) 914-2498 and have your orders turned in no later than Sunday, March 21st. An alternate contact to turn in your orders is Mr. Jon Norris in case Mr. Corona is unavailable. You can call Mr. Norris at 817-657-9401. Please keep your sales to your immediate and adjacent neighborhoods and do not venture too far out of from where you live. We do not have the resources nor the manpower necessary to delivery outside of our community.

This has been proven to be extremely successful to some boy scout troops and our goal is to be able to pay for summer camp out of the proceeds from this fundraiser.

Adult Training:
Many time we receive email about leader training event going on in the area. We like all the adult leaders to be trained in their position; the boys deserve it. If you would like to get trained, please let me know what you are interested and I will forward you a sheet with training courses, dates, and locations. Also, if you are going to summer camp, there are many free training courses offered. They are inside in the air conditioning and there is coffee going all day.

Summer Camp Merit Badges:
It is time to start thinking about merit badge classes for summer camp. If you have not already signed up and would like some advice on what to take, please see me any night at a meeting or send me an email. We recommend that first year scouts take Swimming and First Aid as they are both on the Eagle required list and are easier to get completed at camp. For campers on or past their second year, I normally recommend taking 2 of the Eagle required list and 2 electives. We should have the prerequisites for all of the merit badges Camp Hale offers very soon. Today is the last day to get your original deposits in for summer camp. The deposit check will go out on Wednesday.
