Troop 4 gratefully acknowledges the contributions of its Adult Leaders who make our activities possible.
February 24, 2010
Everyone,
We need some more folks to sign up for Scouting for Food this Saturday morning. It
will count as service hours as well as a non-troop meeting activity. We will meet
at the church at 9:00 AM and will collect food for about 1.5 to 2 hours.
The guys were busy planning activities for the next few months. Please see the
calendar for all the updates. I will be teaching the Signaller merit badge in March
and April. If you don't already know Morse code and Semaphore, now is a good time
to start. Here are a few resources to get you going:
Learn CW Online (requires free
registration) and
Learn Semaphore or
Semaphore Tutorial. CW is a common term for Morse
code. Remember, the Semaphore pictures provided are as you look at them, not as
you hold the flags. So an 'A' is straight down and to down to your right. You can practice without the
flags. We will be working on making a couple of sets this weekend. This merit badge
and the Pathfinder merit badge (taught in May and June) are part of the 2010 Historical
Merit Badge Program. They will not be offered after this year. We are still looking
for counselors for the other two: Carpentry and Tracking if you can help with those.
Thank you to those that signed up for summer camp. We are going to have
a great time. As it stands right now, we don't have enough money to
send to Camp Hale for the deposit due in a few weeks. Please pay your
deposit as soon as possible if you have not done so already. You can
pay online by selecting Summer Camp deposit in the Online Payment section.
Those that are going to Philmont need should have already paid their
fees in full. Philmont is not available online.
