Everyone,
Happy New Year!
I hope everyone had a great time off. We start back on Monday, January 4. At that
meeting we will be planning for the electronics campout and open house, which is
on January 8-9. We need some more folks to sign up, especially adults. There will
be a parents meeting on January 4 to start planning the meal for the next Court of
Honor on Monday, February 8 (sign up sheet coming next week). Time to get some
of those merit badges and rank advancements finished up. We will need a Master of
Ceremonies for the court of honor. If you are working on the Communications MB and
need the MC requirement, please get with Mr. Barker to discuss the possibility.
The next parents meeting will be on Monday, January 11. This meeting will cover
how the troop works.
The troop merit badge college is scheduled for Monday, January 18. We still haven't
decided what merit badges to teach. Please send me a note or come see me Monday
night at the meeting to let me know if you would like to teach a class. There is
room to have 4 classes at one time and we can do 2 sessions each night. So, we
need counselors to teach classes 8 classes. If you are ambitious and want to
teach a class in each session, then that is fine. We try to offer 4 Eagle
required classes and 4 elective classes. The Scouts will be able to earn 2 merit
badges during this merit badge college. The second day of merit badge college will
be on Monday, March 1. So there is plenty of time for the scouts to complete their
homework between classes.
