Everyone,
Just a reminder, we will be off on Monday for Labor Day. Have a great time off and have a
safe trip if you are traveling.
The troop court of honor is Thursday, September 10, from 6:30 - 8:30 PM. This will be
held in the Hangar at the back of the church. The deadline to pay and to sign up is
Tuesday, September 8. I will be around most of the weekend if you would like to send
a check or drop it by. Here is the
map to our house
at 533 Coventry Drive in Grapevine. The payments can also be dropped off at the Troop
Committee Meeting on Tuesday, September 8, at 7:00 PM.
If possible, I need 2 other adults to help me with a quick board of review sometime this
weekend. We had a mix up in paperwork at the last meeting and would like to finish this
board before the court of honor. Please let me know if you would like to help and when
you are available this weekend.
The Fall Canoe Race is Saturday, September 12. We have several signed up, but it wouldn't
hurt to have at least one more adult.
We need to go ahead and book Camp Hale for Summer Camp in 2010. There is nothing available
in June next year. So the dates and the most desirable camp sites are:
July 4-10: Creek
July 18-24: Arapaho
July 25-31: Osage
Here is the
campsite map. Since this is the week before and during
the Philmont trek, those that are going backpacking will not be able to make it this
year.
Please take a look at the
Merit Badge List & Troop 4 Counselors link on the web
site. If you see something that you do as a hobby or profession, please consider signing
up as a merit badge counselor. Even if there is already a counselor for a particular, it
doesn't hurt to have extras in case someone is out-of-town. Several of the folks on the
list have had their scouts finish the program and move on. Although they would more than
likely be willing to help a current scout with a merit badge, many are busy with work
and other activities. Being a merit badge counselor is free, the only painful part is
filling out an adult application, if you are already a registered adult. These is also
a form to fill out which merit badge you would like to help with. For those that are
already registered, we need to check and make sure you are on the list from the
district. We will try to have that list available at the next meeting on September 14.
