Everyone,
There are a few summer camp reminders for those that are going:
From Mr. Booth: If you have ordered Troop 4 t-shirts, you will need to go by Gray
Wolf Promotions to pick up your order. Mr. Booth will be out-of-town. They
are located at 2900 Highway 121, Suite 175, Bedford, TX 76021. The shop is in
the strip shopping center behind Burger Street at Harwood and 121. Contact
information is on their
site.
From Mrs. Barker: For Monday, June 15, all scouts going to summer camp need to have
their trunk, cot, sleeping bag, and camp chair at the meeting. These items will be
loaded into the trailer, which is leaving before the bus.
For those taking shotgun, make sure to pay $40 to Troop 4 or bring cash to turn in
upon arrival at camp. Extra shotgun shells and clays can be purchased and may be
needed to practice for the qualification depending on the experience of the scout. Scouts
taking climbing will need to pay a required $20 fee.
The list of merit badges for each scout were handed out at the parent's meeting. Parents
should give these to the scouts along with the camp map so the scouts can see where all
they are going. Scouts should also be reading the merit badge books before camp. If
you have not purchased a book, please check in the troop library at the next meeting to
see if one is available for free. After the scouts finish the merit badge, please consider
donating any books that are no longer needed to the troop for another scout to use.
Departure for summer camp is Saturday, June 20: Volunteers please arrive at 5:30 PM. The
cookout is at 6:30 PM for everyone else. The bus will depart promptly at 8:00 PM.
The Personal Management merit badge class will start Monday, June 15. Scouts who have
not completed this Eagle required merit badge should come prepared with pen and a print
out of the workbook from the website. This is the first of two classes. Session 2 will
be on July 13.
The final installment for the NASA trip money is due on July 15. The total is $100 per scout
and $45 per adult. the transportation cost will cover the Battleship Texas entrance fee and
meals to and from Houston. Those driving their personal vehicles will need to keep gas
receipts and get reimbursed.
And finally, as with the past few years, the church has asked us if we could have some
scouts at their annual patriot service to present the colors. I have placed a signup sheet
on the calendar for July 5. We need four scouts at the service and it would be nice to have
a couple more for backup incase someone can't make it that day. I have been to the last
two of these and I can tell you it is a great service. They will present the colors towards
the beginning and are expected to remain at the service until the end. This is a small
service we can do for the church that provides us a nice place to meet.
