Everyone,

I have lots for you this week. Please read all the items.

The merit badge sign up sheet has been added to the Camp Gorham information page. Please click on the Summer Camp Gorham link in the left hand navigator. You will find the form under the roster and before the merit badge list. It is advisable to review the Camp Gorham manual to determine if the merit badge you would like is only offered at a specific time that could interfere with another of your selections.

Mr. Anderson has completed his Police and Fire Citizens Academies. He should be at most meetings from now on. Please contact him ahead of time if you need to work with him on Eagle Rank requirements or merit badge work so that he will know if he is needed.

Mr. Anderson has also supplied information on the Railroading Merit Badge. If you are interested in the merit badge, please plan on attending the information meeting on Thursday, May 7, 2009 at 7:30 PM. The meeting will take place at Crown of Life Lutheran Church. You can find a link to the map on any troop 4 calendar on the Round Table/Order of the Arrow meeting line. If you want to take the merit badge, you will need to bring $14 and fill out an Accident Waiver and Release of Liability form. Please email me if you need a copy. The merit badge will also require additional weekends to complete requirements.

If you would like to earn the Radio Merit Badge, there is a free class offered at the annual Ham Radio Convention (Ham-Com) in Plano. The class will take place from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM and you will need to attend all day to earn the merit badge. Full uniform is also required to get in free. You can find more information and the registration form on the Ham-Com web site by follow this link: Ham-Com. If you sign up, please send me a note so that I can help coordinate transportation.

A sign up form for a Rank Advancement campout has been added to the May calendar. This is to work on rank advancement requirements for the Tenderfoot, Second Class and First Class. We will need several adults and older scouts to sign up to sign off requirements. The 5 mile hike and related requirements can be completed on this campout.

There is also a new event registration form for a trip to NASA in Houston. The cost is $100 for scouts and $45 for adults. We need at least 4 adults to make this event happen. The plan is to leave Saturday morning, July 25, and to return in the evening on Sunday, July 26. There will be side trip down to the Battleship Texas on the way down. The cost includes the side trip as well as all meals, except for breakfast before departing. Payment must be received by Monday, May 18, 2009, to be included on this trip.
