Everyone,

Just a reminder that the annual swim check is tonight, Wednesday, April 15, 2009, at 7:00 PM at the GCISD swim center. The swim center is located in from of Cross Timbers Middle School on Pool Rd. Please see the calendar entry on the web site for the map. Please bring $1 per person to get in. All scouts and adults that are planning on participating in any water activities this year are required to have a swim check. This includes summer camp and the spring and fall canoe races.

A new national BSA medical form is required for those going to summer camp this year, and probably from now on. You can find the new version on the web site in the Forms -> Medical Forms area, or by clicking here. This form is required by ALL scouts and adults going to camp this year, even if you already have a medical form on record.

Another note about summer camp. When I originally looked up the prices on the camp's web site they were the 2008 prices not this years. The 2009 prices are $250 for scouts and $190 for adults, which is a few dollars higher. Sorry for the confusion, that is my fault. They transportation is being finalized and will probably end up being around $210 per person. The final cost will be posted soon. We can start accepting funds for this now. We will need them soon to pay for the bus. We have already sent in the final payment for camp. If you have not turned in your complete payment for camp, please turn that in by next Monday.

The Camporee is this weekend. If this is your first campout, we meet in the parking lot in front of the scout hut at 6:00 PM. There will not be food available Friday evening, so everyone needs to eat a good meal before showing up. This is norm for most campouts.

There are two other things on the schedule that are coming up soon, and both are on the same date, Saturday, April 25. The first is the Spring District Canoe Race. This is a day trip to Worth Ranch and is normally about $30. We have to have a minimum of 2 adults in order to participate and right now we have only one adult signed up. We will have to cancel the event if there isn't more participation. The other event on that day is J. Lippert's Eagle Scout project at Rockledge Park, north of the Grapevine Lake Dam. Please sign up online and contact young Mr. Lippert if you can help. His phone number will only be listed at the top of the email message that is sent out.
