Everyone,
I have a few things for you:
Recharter
This is a reminder that the recharter dues are due on Monday, November 17, 2008. If
you want to be rechartered with Troop 4 for 2009, your dues need to be turned in
as soon as possible. If you cannot turn the dues in on the 17th, please mail or drop
your check off at my house this week. If you are out this next week you can try to get the checks to Jeff
Booth Thanksgiving week.
Both of these address should have been in the email that was sent on
November 15, 2008. I am out-of-town the week of Thanksgiving and will not get back until really late on November
27. On Sunday, the 28th, I will be entering the recharter information into the online system. If
we haven't received your check by then, I will assume that you do not wish to recharter with
Troop 4 and I will remove your name from the list. After you are removed, you would need
to fill out new applications in January 2009 to get back on our list. Due to my work schedule,
I will not have the opportunity to contact everyone personally this year.
Nuclear Science Merit Badge
Mr. Hallstein has planned to work with the Order of the Arrow Chapter for the Nuclear Science
Merit Badge. We do have a few seats open if any one else would like to attend (non-OA members are
welcome). The class portion
will be conducted on Thursday, November 20, 2008, from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM at the normal meeting
location. Please send me an email if your scout would like to attend. Due to the complexity of
some of the material, it may be a challenge for younger scouts. Please read over the requirements
and determine if your scout is ready. If so, please send me an email message, purchase a merit
badge book, print out a workbook and join us on Thursday to get started. There will also be a day
trip down to the power plan in Glen Rose for this merit badge at a later date.
Name Badges
I am planning or ordering some Boy Scout name badges. If you would like one for your uniform,
please look at the available list at the
Quartermaster store. Once you have chosen one, send me an email
message with the item code number, and the two lines of text. There are also two choices for attachment
to your uniform. One is the military style posts that actually poke a hole through the fabric
and the other is a magnetic bar. Both are show on the web site. Please list your attachment style
as well. We have to order these in groups of 2 or more, so I thought it would be easier to
get them as a group.
